Divine Daughter’s dedication to sharing the wisdom of traditional herbal medicine unearths the simple practices to nourishing our mind, body and spirit as a whole. As women and mothers of our communities, embodying these practices allows us to become healers in our own homes, to build healthy and sustainable foundations for our families to grow from.
From our personal experiences to observing the different cultures that surround us, we learn that living within a community creates harmony and balance. Along with its fast-paced movement, we experience the struggle of living in a culture that promotes individuality and healing in isolation. Throughout recent history we have seen how our bodies have been departmentalized and segregated into specialties, which have taken away from the wholeness or our beings.
As we receive the news of becoming a mother, we begin to transform through 9 months feeling, learning and securing practices that we can carry on as our children our born and grow. Divine Daughters acknowledges that this transition is sacred and healing and sustained when supported by community. As women it is important for us to have a safe space to release and be open about the joys and struggles of our paths. It is through this space that we truly heal, and it is within community that true healing can occur, where not only the body is taken into account, but our mind and spirit as well.
Divine Daughters will create a Mother Circle to allow mothers to gather in sisterhood and build a support network within the urban environment that we live in. We acknowledge that community is not foreign and that it is essential element that all mothers can take part in and truly heal and support each other through the process.
The purpose of our Mother Circle is to help rediscover and honor the cycle of motherhood and the role of sisterhood in our modern community. The Circle provides a space for mothers to connect to support the growth of other mothers. We believe in creating a safe, sacred space to allow women to gather and build community, acknowledge our rites of passage, and honor the sacredness of a woman’s gift and its importance to future generations.
As how the medicine wheel teaches us how to honor each phase and transition of our life, the circle encourages mothers to gather and share their wisdom in a circle and experience that we are merely a reflection of each other. The circle is a symbol of the cycle of motherhood, which is forever evolving and bringing new lessons and truths. Throughout life, we are constantly transitioning through emotional and spiritual phases as we physically walk our path as a woman with our families. The joy and excitement of a new addition to your family is often shared with emotions of being overwhelmed and depressed. Gathering monthly as mothers gives us the space to listen and learn from each other and remind us where we are and can be. The circle holds space for experienced mothers to serve as mentors and new mothers to bring light and reflect where we all started.
